My sister watched me burn pancakes three times and finally said something
She told me to stop splashing butter in a cold pan and wait until the pan is actually hot. I spent 20 years thinking butter in a warm pan was the secret, not the problem. Anyone else get handed a basic tip way too late?

Yeah no that hits way too close to home. My dad never taught me how to cook anything. I learned everything from YouTube in my late twenties. It's embarrassing how many basic things I messed up for years because nobody showed me. Like I used to boil pasta in a tiny pot with barely enough water. Just awful sticky clumps every time. Your sister did you a solid.
