Critique from my mother-in-law changed how I store leftover herbs

She told me my method of just tossing cilantro in the fridge was basically 'plant murder by neglect,' so now I wrap them in a damp paper towel inside a mason jar - they last over a week now. Has anyone else gotten a blunt kitchen tip that actually improved their leftovers game?

Oh man, your mother-in-law called it plant murder by neglect and honestly, she's not wrong. I used to just throw my basil in the fridge too and it would be sad slime in like two days. That damp paper towel trick is legit life changing though. I started doing something similar with my herbs and now they actually last a whole week or more. It feels really good not having to toss out a half dead bunch of parsley every few days. Your MIL sounds like a keeper for giving you that tip, even if she had to be a little harsh about it.

I used to think the damp paper towel thing was overrated but now I'm a total convert.
