I've been reheating pasta wrong my whole life, a $2 trick fixed it

Last Tuesday I had leftover penne from Sunday and it came out like rubber, you know the sad microwave situation. My neighbor saw me nuking it and said to add a splash of water plus cover with a damp paper towel, I thought she was nuts. Tried it with about a tablespoon of water for 2 minutes on 70% power and it came out almost as good as fresh, maybe better (less sauce separation). I've been eating sad leftovers for 30 years and it took one conversation over the fence to fix it. Anyone else got a tiny trick that makes a huge difference with reheating? I'm curious about rice next because mine always turns into paste.

Huh, so the water trick actually works for penne? Did you try it with rice yet, or are you still stuck in paste hell?
