My blender lid failed mid-soup and I almost got scalded
Last Tuesday I was making a lentil soup using leftover roasted veggies and some old chicken stock I found in the back of the fridge. I had everything going in the blender, put the lid on like always, and hit puree. About 10 seconds in the lid just popped off and hot soup sprayed all over my counter, my shirt, and almost my face. I jumped back and managed to not get burned but it was way too close for comfort. Turns out the little rubber seal on the lid had cracked and I never noticed because I always just rinsed it after use. Now I'm checking that seal before every blend and thinking about getting a cheap replacement lid if I can find one. Has anyone else had a blender lid fail on them like this or am I just unlucky?

You mean you didn't notice the seal cracking or peeling at all before that? That's wild, mine usually gets all sticky and gross way before it fails. I had a similar thing happen with an old Nutribullet cup where the bottom seal just gave out mid-smoothie and it leaked all over my counter. Total mess and I was pissed because I had just cleaned the kitchen.

Honestly, that little rubber seal being the culprit is scary. Did you ever notice it looked worn out before the lid popped, or was it totally fine until it just gave up?
