The $11 scale that flipped my portion game upside down
I always thought measuring leftovers by eye was fine until last Tuesday when I weighed a half cup of cooked rice for a stir fry. It came out to 1.7 ounces, not the 4 ounces I assumed, which means I was eating double portions for months. Turns out my cheap kitchen scale from the dollar store was actually accurate, I just never used it for anything except coffee beans. Now I weigh my leftover proteins and grains before freezing them, so my fried rice and casseroles actually match the serving counts I jot down on the lids. Anyone else catch themselves eyeballing too hard and then wondering why their meal prep only lasts 3 days instead of 5?
