A quick warning about those cheap salon chairs from online marketplaces
I bought a 'hydraulic styling chair' for about $250 from a big online seller six months ago. It looked fine in the pictures, but the piston failed completely after maybe 90 days of normal use. Now it just sinks slowly with any client over 100 pounds, and the base feels wobbly. I'm out the money and had to rush order a proper one from a beauty supply distributor. Has anyone else had a chair give out like this, and what brand did you switch to that's actually holding up?

Oh man, that's the classic 'hydraulic' surprise where the only thing sinking is your money. Those marketplace photos are basically a magic trick. I guess the lesson is if the price seems too good to be true for something that holds a person up, it probably is.

Yeah @henry604, I feel that. I got burned once and now I just bring a tape measure and check the piston myself before I hand over any cash. Saved me from another bad deal last month.

Seriously, bring a car jack next time too. You can lift the chair to check if the piston actually holds weight. It's a total game changer for spotting those slow sinks before you buy.
