Client told me my blending looked fake and it changed my technique
A lady named Mrs. Davis told me last month that my highlight blending looked like stripes. I was using a foil method I learned in beauty school for 5 years. She suggested I try a balayage sweep with a smaller brush instead. Took me 3 tries to get it right but now the transitions look way more natural. Has anyone else had a client call them out on something you thought was fine?

Oh man, I feel this so hard lmao. My client didn't say it looked fake, but she said my blending looked like a 'tiger stripe pattern' and I wanted to crawl under the chair. I had been foiling for like six years thinking I was a pro, but she was right. It took me a solid week of practicing on mannequins and watching YouTube to fix it. Sometimes a little reality check from a client is the best thing that can happen to your technique, even if it stings at first lol.

My wife had an old client who told her the same thing like four years ago and @ray189 is probably right that it helped her in the long run too. But idk, sometimes I wonder if people just get too hung up on one comment when the rest of your clients are happy.
