Fine hair and thinning shears: I used to say no, now I say maybe

I always skipped thinning shears on fine hair, worried it would look too flat. After testing it, I noticed that careful thinning adds body and style. How do you feel about using thinning shears on fine hair?

What about the actual shear design? I've seen some newer ones with wider teeth and rounded tips that seem to remove less hair per snip. That kind of tool might make the whole "light touch" thing a lot easier to pull off without going overboard.

My stylist Gina convinced me to try it last year after I'd avoided thinning shears for a decade. I was sure my fine hair would just collapse, but she showed me how to only take weight out from the very ends in certain layers. That bit of internal removal let my hair actually move and gave it a shape it never held before. The whole key is who is doing it and how much they take, a heavy hand is a disaster. I get why people say no, but a light touch makes a huge difference.

Saw my friend Jamie try it on her super fine hair last month. Honestly thought it would look awful but it actually gave her way more texture. Tbh changed my whole view on it.
