I used a cheap plastic cap for a deep conditioning treatment instead of a proper heat cap
The client's hair was so dry I figured a grocery bag and a plastic shower cap would work just as well as my $45 thermal cap. After 20 minutes, the bag had melted slightly and stuck to her hair in three spots, which took me another 30 minutes to gently pick out. Has anyone else had a DIY hair care idea go totally wrong?

Tell me you at least used a towel between the bag and her hair. That plastic melts at a super low temperature.

Wondering if the type of plastic matters too. Some grocery bags are way thinner than others. That towel might not be enough for the really flimsy ones.

Yeah, the flimsy bag thing is a real point. I used to just grab whatever plastic was closest. Then I tried a super thin produce bag on a low setting, and it still got weird and sticky in one spot. The towel helped but that plastic just vanished. Now I check the bag thickness first, like a bread bag versus a veggie bag. The thin ones need more layers or a different cloth.
