My old stylist swore by using mayonnaise as a deep conditioner, I tried it and here's what happened
Back in 2019 my first mentor told me to slap on some Hellmann's before a wash and let it sit for 30 minutes. I was like no way that's just a dumb internet trick, but I gave it a shot on a client with super dry hair last month in St. Louis. I have to say their hair felt softer after one round, but the smell was brutal for the next two days and I'm not sure it's worth the hassle compared to a $12 mask. Has anyone else actually gotten good results from kitchen stuff or is it all hype?

The mayonnaise smell made me feel like I was marinating my own head for a salad.

Painted the whole scene in my head too perfectly, man. That heavy, greasy mayo smell mixed with the warm air from the vents, I swear you could taste it on your tongue. It's that specific smell that just sticks to your clothes and hair for the rest of the day. Honestly, makes me never want to look at a jar of Hellmann's the same way again.

For real, that mayo smell hits different when it's trapped in a small space. Reminds me of this time I got stuck in a break room microwave that hadn't been cleaned in weeks, not even kidding. Every time I close my eyes now I can still smell that sour, eggy funk mixing with leftover coffee grounds.
