Remember when I used to spend 45 minutes on a blowout? Now I'm done in 12.

Back in beauty school in 2018, I'd section hair into like 8 little squares and dry each one perfectly with a round brush. Last week at my chair in Cleveland, I did a full blowout on a client in 12 minutes flat using just a paddle brush and my trusty Babyliss. Has anyone else found that less sections and more tension actually gives a smoother finish?

Wait, are you telling me I've been making this harder than it needed to be for years? I straight up argued with a coworker last month that you needed at least 6 sections for a blowout to look good. Tried the paddle brush method on a whim after watching one of those 5 minute tutorial videos and honestly I was so wrong. Less sections, more tension, and just keeping the brush moving fast gives me way less frizz and a way smoother finish. Definitely gonna be my new go to from now on.

What nobody brings up is how ergonomics change with fewer sections, I've had way less wrist pain since I stopped doing all that twisting with a round brush. My coworkers keep saying it's all about the tool but really it's about how you hold your arm and brush angle through the whole blowout. Once I stopped overcomplicating the sectioning my shoulders stopped hurting at the end of a double shift.
