That client who told me my blending was off actually saved my career

I had this woman with a short pixie cut who flat out said my fade looked choppy around the ears. She was right, I was rushing through the blending because I thought it looked fine in the mirror. Has anyone else had a client call you out on something that you later realized was a game changer?

Not exactly the same thing but I had a barber once tell me my left sideburn was a quarter inch higher than the right one and I laughed it off until I actually stopped and looked in the mirror later that night. Drove me crazy for a week because I couldn't look at my own face without noticing it. Sometimes you need that one honest person to pull the blinders off before you keep making the same mistake over and over.

A quarter inch is actually about 6 millimeters, not an inch and a quarter like some people might think. But your point still stands. It's wild how something that small can completely wreck your perception of yourself once you actually see it. I had a similar thing with a crooked collar on a shirt I wore for months before someone finally said something. Once they pointed it out I couldn't unsee it. We really need more people willing to give that honest feedback.
