That one client who told me my foils were too chunky really changed my technique

I had this lady last spring, she had really fine hair, and she straight up said 'you're grabbing too much hair in each section.' I was used to doing bigger foils to save time, like 10-12 sections instead of 20. For the next few weeks I tried doing smaller, more precise sections and honestly the color blends way better now. Has anyone else had a client critique that actually made them a better stylist?

That client critique about grabbing too much hair sounds familiar... I do flooring work and had a similar thing where a customer pointed out my cuts were off by just a hair. Instead of brushing it off I slowed way down and paid more attention to measuring twice. The finished floor looked way better and I still use that lesson today. Sometimes the tough feedback is the stuff that actually sticks with you.

Reminds me of this time I had a client who complained my foils were too straight, she wanted them angled a certain way. I thought it was just her being picky but after trying it out I saw how the angle actually followed her head shape better.
