Unpopular opinion: I tried a 'quick' corrective color on a level 10 lift and it took 6 hours.
The porosity was so uneven from a box dye that each section grabbed the toner completely differently... has anyone else found a better way to even out the canvas first?

Ah, the classic "quick" color correction. I've learned that "quick" in our world just means "clear your entire afternoon and order takeout." Box dye porosity is its own special beast, turning a simple toner into a full-blown science project.

Ever feel like you're just painting over a wall full of holes? @jake_owens is right, that uneven grab turns a simple step into a whole day. I've had some luck with a protein filler first, but it's still a gamble every single time.

Ugh, tell me about it. That grab is so random, it's like the hair has a mind of its own. Drew965, I swear by doing a test strand with the toner mixed with a little conditioner first, just to see how fast it drinks it up. It adds a step but saves you from a full-on patchy mess. Box dye really does leave behind a weird kind of damage that nothing else matches.
