Why does nobody talk about choosing between threading and hard wax on the upper lip?
I used to swear by hard wax for every single lip. Faster, less mess, clients loved it. Then a regular named Dana came in about 4 months ago with skin that was basically paper thin from her retinoid, and I waxed her like always. She left with a red patch that stayed for a week. I felt awful. So I tried threading on the next few lip clients at my chair in Sacramento. Way slower, about 12 minutes versus 4, and my fingers cramped up the first couple times. But the redness was gone in like 20 minutes. Now I do thread for anyone on retinol or with sensitive skin, and hard wax for the rest. Took me 6 clients to get fast enough that nobody complained about the wait. Dana came back and said it was the first time she walked out not stinging. What do you all do for thin or medicated skin, because I still feel slow and I know there has to be a trick.
