A rigger in Houston said my hand signals were too fast for complex lifts, so I started counting to three between each move.

Has anyone else slowed down their signals after feedback, and did it actually improve the crew's response time?

Slowing down for every single lift seems like overkill. Some crews are just green and need the extra time, but experienced teams can handle a faster pace. I’ve seen guys get annoyed if you drag it out on a simple pick. Maybe it depends on the job and who you’re working with.

Totally agree! I saw a crew last month that moved like a well-oiled machine, no wasted time at all. They had this rhythm where they just KNEW when to slow down for the tricky stuff and when to keep it moving. It's all about reading the room and the furniture. Forcing a full stop on every single item would drive me nuts too.

My buddy in Galveston did that and his whole crew's error rate dropped by half.
