A rigger in Seattle taught me a simple hand signal I still use

We were setting glass panels on a high rise last fall, and the wind picked up more than forecasted. My usual spotter was on break, and a veteran rigger I'd never met stepped in. He held up his hand flat, palm down, and moved it slowly side to side, saying 'That means I need you to inch it, not swing it.' It was so clear and calm. I've used that exact signal on every tricky, windy lift since. What other non-standard hand signals have you guys found really help avoid confusion on a loud site?

Love how @xena_brown50's fist shake shows clear signals save lives everywhere.

Yeah that flat palm wiggle is solid. We used a closed fist shake for "stop everything now" on a site once, cuts through the noise better than yelling.

Ever try a slow blink for "check your line"?
