A rigger in Tacoma told me my hand signals were too fast and confusing
I slowed them right down after he pointed out a near-miss, and now my crew says the picks are way smoother. Anyone else get called out on something basic that actually helped?

Heard about a buddy who got roasted for his knot checks being sloppy. An old-timer made him redo every single one for a whole shift. Dude says his work is way cleaner now, never realized he was cutting corners.

Honestly, sometimes a slower signal just means a more careful rigger. Speed can look like confidence when it's really just rushing. I've seen smoother picks come from clear, deliberate moves, not fast ones.

Totally! A slow signal can also hide a bluff. It makes the other climber guess if it's caution or a planned fake-out. That extra doubt can be just as useful as raw speed.
