Always thought those fancy load moment indicator refresher courses were just a cash grab until I took one in Houston last spring and it caught a calibration drift I'd totally missed.
The instructor had us run a mock pick with a 40-ton lift at 80 feet of radius, and the LMI readout was off by nearly 3%, which convinced me to get our company's entire fleet checked. Anyone else have a routine check turn up a surprise like that?
