Am I the only one who started using flagging tape for blind picks?
Last Tuesday I had a blind pick on a steel erection job in Fort Worth, and I kept losing my reference point every time the load swung. A rigger with 20 years on him showed me to tie a strip of flagging tape on the headache ball at the same height as my target, then eyeball off that instead of the load itself. Cut my setup time from about 4 minutes to a minute and a half, and I haven't bumped a beam since. Does anyone else do this, or is there a better way to hold a line on a pick you can't see?
