Rant: I ran my boom out 40 feet on a light pick in Bakersfield and the tip float finally made sense
Last Tuesday I was spotting a 900 lb AC unit onto a roof in Bakersfield and running the boom out almost flat like I always do on light picks, and the whole thing felt mushy and slow to respond the whole morning. My old hand Ray walked by, looked at my load chart, and pointed out that at 40 feet of radius I was way past where the tip float even matters, so I was fighting the machine for no reason instead of booming up and picking it closer. How do you all figure your radius on light stuff when the chart looks fine but the stick feels wrong?
