Shoutout to the safety inspector who caught my swing brake failure before it got ugly

Was doing a pick in Houston last Wednesday with a 50-ton Grove and the swing brake cylinder started weeping fluid. Inspector flagged it during the pre-op walk, and if that had let go with a load in the air we'd have been in real trouble. Anyone else had a near miss caught by a sharp-eyed inspector on a job site?

Had a crane boom swing into a live power line because nobody caught the deadman switch was sticking.

And yeah, I've seen a similar thing happen with a forklift where the parking brake didn't catch, rolled right into a gas line. It's crazy how one little sticky part can cause a whole mess.
