TIL using a shorter boom radius cut my setup time by 15 minutes on a job in Austin
I've been running a 50-ton Terex for about 2 years now, and I always figured a max boom setup was the way to go for reach. Last week on a rooftop HVAC replacement, my foreman told me to pull the boom back to 75 percent and just reposition the truck. It saved me nearly 15 minutes on setup and I still made the lift easy. Has anyone else found that a tighter boom angle messes with your counterweight balance?

It's a trade off for sure but repositioning beats fighting a sketchy boom angle any day.

12 feet of boom extension with a 4 pound hammer, that's the real nightmare folks don't talk about until they're already in it, @piper_reed. One wrong twitch and you're fighting the balance instead of the rock.
