Took a chance on a new synthetic sling for a tight lift and it completely changed my plan

Had to get a 12-ton generator into a rooftop mechanical room in Chicago last Thursday. The only access was a 6-foot-wide alley. My usual wire rope chokers were too stiff to make the sharp angle without binding. Grabbed a 10-foot, 2-inch wide synthetic round sling from the shop truck on a whim. The thing draped over the load like butter, didn't mar the finish, and let me make that 90-degree turn from the street up and over the parapet in one smooth pick. Boss said it shaved at least an hour off the job. Anyone have a go-to brand for these, or tips on inspection? I'm used to checking wire for broken strands, but this polyester feels like a whole different ballgame.

That's the best feeling, when the right tool just clicks. It's like finding the perfect key for a lock you didn't even know you had.

Wait, you've never felt that before? @piper_reed, that's wild to me! I get that click all the time with new apps.

Read an article once about how our brains get a little hit of dopamine when we solve a puzzle, even a small one like figuring out a new app. That's the click piper_reed is talking about. It's not about the tool being fancy, it's about it making sense right away. Like the first time you used a good maps app and it just showed you the simple route without a bunch of noise. That moment of "oh, this gets it" is what keeps you coming back.
