Tried a shorter hoist cable on my Grove today, got smoother picks
I swapped out to a 30 foot cable on a tight urban job in Denver last week, thinking I'd just save time. Turned out the reduced sway made my placements way more accurate. Has anyone else experimented with cable length for better control?

Felix is coming in a little hot there. It's really not that deep, swapping a cable is part of the job. But honestly, small changes in rigging can make a big difference on tight sites. I've seen guys run shorter lines on purpose to cut down on that pendulum effect, especially in wind. It's not brain surgery but it's also not pointless.
