Warning: I was setting up outrigger pads wrong for years

Ngl I always just threw the pads down flat on the ground and called it good. Last month at a site in Detroit a foreman walked over and pointed out the ground was soft on one side. He had me dig down and put a second pad under the one corner. I never even thought about checking the soil under the pad before. How many of you actually test the ground before setting up?

Had a buddy who used to set up his pads on gravel without checking what was underneath. Turned out there was an old drainage ditch under there that collapsed and his whole rig dropped six inches into the ground.

Is six inches really gonna mess up your whole rig that bad?

@troythompson you ever level a rig only to find a hidden sinkhole underneath?
