Watching a lift at the new hospital site in Albany changed how I think about wind

They had a mobile crane placing a massive HVAC unit on the roof, and a gust came through that wasn't in the forecast. The operator paused everything for a solid 20 minutes, even though the foreman was pushing to keep going. That extra caution, just for a feeling in the cab, stuck with me. How do you guys handle those sudden weather changes when the site is on a tight schedule?

Jake's right on this one. That operator knew what he was feeling in the cab. You can't rush a crane when the wind is telling you no. Schedule means nothing if someone's life is on the line. Always trust that gut feeling over the foreman's deadline.

Heard a rigger say you can always make up time but you can't fix a dropped load.

I mean, @jake_owens, is it really that final?
