Hot take: Blasting "Bohemian Rhapsody" in your car is the wrong song to max out.

I keep seeing people on here post about cranking that classic rock anthem like it's the ultimate car jam. But here's the thing, that song has those quiet opera sections where you have to turn it down or you miss the whole point. The whole volume debate is about songs that hit hard from start to finish. You want something like "Kickstart My Heart" by Mötley Crüe where every second is full throttle. I tested this last month on a drive from Austin to Dallas, and the difference in energy was night and day. Why are we pretending a song with lulls belongs in this conversation at all?

Rolled down my windows last week trying to prove everyone wrong and blast "Bohemian Rhapsody" on the highway. Got to the opera section and had to scramble to turn it down like an idiot while still trying to look cool. Ended up missing my exit because I was too busy fighting with the volume knob. "Kickstart My Heart" though, that's the real deal, I can set that to max and not touch a thing for the whole song. Have you ever tried cranking "Highway to Hell" or are we keeping it strictly 80s hair metal?

Man that Austin to Dallas drive is brutal, I did it last winter in a rental that had a blown speaker on the passenger side. So I basically had to choose between hearing the left channel clearly or turning it up loud enough to blow out my eardrums. Ended up listening to a podcast about abandoned shopping malls in the 90s instead, way more consistent volume wise. But your point about those quiet sections is spot on, I had a buddy who tried blasting Queen in his convertible and it just sounded like a muffled mess when the opera part hit. Total waste of good decibels.
