My buddy in Nashville told me I was cranking the intro too long on songs for no reason

He said I was that guy who lets the buildup drag for 45 seconds before the drop hits, so now I skip straight to the main riff of classic rock tracks like that one part in Kashmir where the drums kick in, has anyone else had a passenger call them out on their song choices?

Lol "that guy who lets the buildup drag for 45 seconds" hit too close to home. I had a friend once tell me to stop playing the whole 2 minute intro to Free Bird and just skip to the solo.

Nah, the buildup is the best part.

Read somewhere that a lot of producers actually think the intro sets the whole mood for the track, so skipping it kills the vibe. @gibson.elizabeth I get where your friend was coming from, but cutting an intro off is like skipping the first chapter of a book. Buildup is where the tension lives, can't just jump straight to the payoff.
