That time I dropped $200 on a subwoofer just to impress nobody

I bought a 12 inch Rockford Fosgate subwoofer back in 2017 for around $200, thinking everyone at stoplights would hear me coming. Turns out, I live in a neighborhood full of old folks who just glare at my car and my wife made me turn it down after three days. It still sits in my trunk collecting dust, but every now and then I crank it on an empty road and remember why I bought it. Anyone else got a car audio upgrade they barely use anymore?

Man, that's a classic move. Did you at least get the sealed box for it or did you just throw it in the trunk and hope for the best? I've got a buddy who did the same thing with a 15 inch JL Audio, and he still brags about it when he's had a few beers. Seems like half the fun is just knowing you could rattle the windows if you wanted to, even if you never do.

And honestly @reesemiller, is it even that serious? I mean sure, the JL stuff hits hard but most people just want to show off for like 10 minutes then forget about it. Your buddy probably tells that story way more than he actually cranks the volume. Half the time people spend more money than they need to just to feel cool at a red light. Nothing wrong with a decent setup but I dunno, I feel like folks hype up subs way too much for what they actually use them for.
