Changed my mind about passive-aggressive notes after my roommate left a novel on the fridge

I used to think leaving a note was cowardly, but after my roommate ate my $15 lasagna three nights in a row and I finally wrote a calm note explaining I'd label stuff, he actually stopped and even offered to replace it. Has anyone else found that written words work better than face-to-face with certain people?

Doesn't it feel great when a note actually works better than talking?

Seventy percent of communication is body language, and a note strips all that away. You lose tone, inflection, and the chance to read the room when you just hand someone a piece of paper. Talking is messy but it builds real understanding, a note just sits there cold and easy to ignore.
