My roommate hosted a $5 psychic night in our living room and things got weird

My roommate Sarah decided to host a 'psychic reading night' for $5 a pop at our apartment last Saturday, and she charged 8 people from Craigslist to sit in our living room while she faked tarot readings. She used a deck of normal playing cards and kept telling this one guy his dead grandma was holding a chicken. Has anyone else's roommate turned their shared space into a weird side hustle?

I mean honestly if she's making $40 off a living room night that's kind of a smart side hustle, especially with rent these days. $5 is basically nothing and people know what they're signing up for when they go on Craigslist for a psychic reading, it's not like they expected the real deal. The chicken grandma thing is a bit weird but maybe that guy was just happy to hear about his grandma at all, idk.

$40 for a living room night sounds good until you realize she's probably doing 3-4 of those a week and the novelty wears off real fast. Honestly, who's paying $5 for cold readings from someone who can't even keep her chicken grandma story straight.

Ha, yeah fair enough... I mean, I once paid $20 for a "spiritual consultation" in a back room of a smoke shop and the guy just told me I had "good energy" and then tried to sell me a candle. At least her chicken grandma story was entertaining, right? Though honestly, if I'm dropping $5 on a cold reading I'd rather just go buy a coffee and pretend I'm getting a fortune from the barista's tired expression. Side hustle or not, the math works out for her but man, those living room crowds must get awkward when she's doing the same "your grandma's proud of you" spiel to everyone in the room. I guess we're all just paying for a little attention at the end of the day, even if it's from someone who can't remember her own made-up stories.
