My roommate used my towels as cleaning rags without asking
Last month I came home to find three of my good bath towels stained with blue paint in the kitchen trash. Turns out my roommate Jake used them to wipe up after he tried painting his old dresser in the living room. When I asked him about it he just shrugged and said "they wash out bro." I still haven't gotten the stains out and now I have a lock on my closet door. Has anyone else had a roommate just destroy your stuff like it's nothing?

Oh man that totally sucks. I'd be livid if someone used my good towels like that without asking, especially for paint. You're smart to put a lock on your closet, honestly some people just don't get boundaries until you force them.

Wait the roommate actually used the skillet as a hammer? How do you even get to that point as an adult, like what was the thought process there?

Oh jeez, yeah that sucks. I actually heard about this one study or article where they said some people just don't see other people's stuff as real property unless it's like, really obviously expensive. Like your towels are just towels to him, not your personal things. I had a buddy who had his roommate use his good cast iron skillet as a hammer once, seriously. The paint thing is especially bad though, because everyone knows paint doesn't just wash out of thick cotton like that. Lock on the closet is the only way to go when they don't get boundaries.
