Shoutout to my old roommate Marcus, who taught me the plate stack trick and saved my sanity
Back in 2019 I lived with a guy in Austin who never washed a single dish for 8 months. It got so bad I was eating cereal out of a measuring cup because every bowl was in his room. I used to just get mad and do them all myself, which took about 45 minutes each time. Then one night I watched him carry 11 plates stacked in one hand to the sink and it hit me. He wasn't lazy, he was just raised in a house where you pile everything and deal with it once a week. Now I keep a plastic tub in my room and drop my own stuff in it, and we never fight about the sink anymore. Has anyone else just given up on shared kitchen rules and made their own little system?
