Swapped my chore chart for a group chat and it actually worked
I had this whole printed spreadsheet with color coded tasks for me and my two roommates in Denver, but nobody checked it after week one. Decided to swap to a simple group text where we just call out what needs doing as we see it, and now dishes get done same day instead of sitting for two days. Has anyone else ditched a system for something way less organized?

Hell yeah, that's exactly what happened with me and my buddy I used to rent with. We had this whole whiteboard with chores listed by day and it was just ignored after the first week. Once we switched to just texting each other like "hey, trash is full" or "I'm grabbing dinner, can you handle the dishes?" stuff actually got done. It's way less pressure when it's just a quick call out instead of staring at a chart that feels like homework. Sometimes the messy system works way better than the clean one on paper.

You said "once we switched to just texting each other" but did you guys set any ground rules first or just start firing off texts? Because I feel like that could easily turn into one person nagging the other if you're not careful. Was there a specific moment where you both agreed to stop ignoring the whiteboard?
