Unpopular opinion: roommate agreements are overrated
Everyone told me to sign one before moving in with my buddy in Denver, but we ditched it and just talk things out. Sure, he left a fish tank in the hallway last month, but we sorted it in 10 minutes. Has anyone else found written rules just cause more drama?

My buddy Tom skipped the agreement with his roommate and it backfired hard. The guy started hoarding empty pizza boxes in the living room, like thirty of them stacked in a pyramid. Tom said something, roommate said "that's my art," and suddenly they're in a full argument about cleaning schedules and guest rules that never got written down. Took them two months and a broken coffee table to finally sit down and make a list. The written thing probably would've saved them a lot of cold pizza and awkward silence.

Yeah paper trails matter. Even if it feels weird writing down "don't stack pizza boxes like a monument" it beats the alternative.
