Appreciation post: The old bus stop on Central gave me a whole story idea

I was waiting for the bus near the university yesterday and saw a guy leave a half-finished crossword on the bench. He'd written 'forget me not' in the margin. It got me thinking about who he was, why he stopped, and where he was going in such a hurry. Has anyone else had a tiny, real-life detail spark a full plot for them?

Yeah, and what if the guy left it on purpose for someone to find, like a weird little message in a bottle. I mean, @xena914 is right about the flower, but maybe that's the whole point, like he wanted to be remembered by a stranger. Those tiny choices people make are the best story starters.

Guess he forgot to leave a return address, @rodriguez.diana.

Oh, that's a cool detail. But just so you know, 'forget me not' is the name of a flower. Might be a clue, not just a phrase.
