Hit a wall on a short story about a haunted laundromat
I was sitting at my desk last Tuesday trying to write a scene where a ghost folds a tshirt wrong on purpose, and I got stuck for two hours. So I closed my laptop and went for a walk around the block, and when I came back I wrote the whole thing in 15 minutes. Anyone else find that stepping away actually fixes writer's block better than forcing it?

Oh, isn't that just how it goes though? You stare at a blinking cursor forever then suddenly it all clicks when you're not even trying. I always tell people to just put the phone down and do something else for ten minutes.

Used to think that was just people being lazy, but honestly you're making a lot of sense right now.

Is it really that automatic though? I've sat through plenty of those breaks and come back to the same blank page with nothing new. Usually it just means I have to force myself to start typing garbage until something halfway decent comes out.
