I just hit 1000 words on a story I started in a coffee shop

I was cleaning out my laptop's downloads folder and found a document I'd opened exactly once, three months ago at The Daily Grind on Maple. It was a half-baked idea about a guy who finds his neighbor's lost parrot. I opened it on a whim and just kept typing until the word counter ticked over. It wasn't planned, I just got hooked on the prompt 'write about a found object that changes a routine'. Anyone else have a random prompt file that suddenly clicked way later?

Found a folder of old writing prompts from a class I took years ago. Opened one last week about describing a smell and wrote a whole page without stopping. Sometimes the idea just needs to sit for a while before it works.

My grandma's attic had that same dusty paper smell. I found a box of old letters from the 70s last year, and the scent of faded ink on yellowed pages hit me so hard I just sat there for twenty minutes. It's wild how a smell can unlock a whole memory you forgot you had.

Yeah, I read something about that incubation period for ideas. Reminds me of what @henry315 said about smells unlocking old memories.
