My old writing teacher in Phoenix said prompts are just questions, and she was dead right
I used to stare at a blank page for 20 minutes trying to find the perfect idea. She told me to start every session by writing one plain question at the top, like "what would my neighbor do if she found a wallet on the bus?" I tried it for a week and wrote 5 short pieces, which is more than I finished all summer. Does anyone else use a question-first trick, or do you just jump straight into the scene?
