Prompt swaps went from chaos to a graveyard and I need ideas

I've been in this sub for like 7 years now, and the before and after is wild. Back in 2018, you'd drop a prompt about a haunted vending machine and get 40 replies of people riffing off each other, building whole worlds in the comments. Now I post something with a solid twist and I'm lucky to get 2 upvotes, and most of the replies are just 'this is cool' with zero follow-up. Somewhere around 2021, the algorithm started favoring image prompts and listicles, so everyone moved to those quick-hit posts instead of actual brainstorming. I've tried shorter prompts, longer prompts, even adding specific constraints like a 500 word limit, but the engagement stays dead. Has anyone else noticed this shift, or found a way to get the old back-and-forth going again on here?

Man, that timing thing is spot on. I wonder if it's less about the prompts themselves and more about how people's scrolling habits changed once everyone started using their phones more. Maybe the old vibe only works when people are actually sitting at a computer with time to kill, not thumbing through on a lunch break.
