That free writing prompt generator I laughed at actually fixed my block
I was stuck for like 3 months on a short story about a lighthouse keeper. My buddy kept pushing this one free prompt generator he found, and I rolled my eyes so hard. Figured it was just gonna spit out random junk like 'write about a tree that's sad.' Finally gave it a shot last Tuesday out of pure desperation. First prompt it gave me was 'a letter arrives 30 years late with a warning about something that already happened' and I wrote 4,000 words that night. Has anyone else had a tool they dismissed totally save their writing?

Respect that it worked for you but I'm not buying it. If a simple prompt is all it takes to fix a 3 month block then maybe you weren't that stuck to begin with.

Challenge you to try the thing where you write down whatever comes after reading a prompt for 10 minutes without stopping. What did you actually do with that prompt after you got it, just let it sit or did you jump straight in?
