The prompt about 'the door that wasn't there' got a whole different story from 3 people
Last month I posted a simple prompt about a door appearing in a hallway, and three different writers took it in totally opposite directions: one wrote horror, one wrote a cozy romance, and one wrote a sci-fi time loop. Has anyone else noticed how the same bare bones prompt can produce wildly different genres depending on who picks it up? What's the most unexpected twist you've seen from a basic prompt?

Oh wow, that's actually the coolest part of writing prompts, right? The real twist is that the prompt isn't even the story, the writer's own baggage and mood is the whole thing. Like you could hand that same door to 100 people and get 100 different fears and hopes and weird obsessions hiding behind it.
