Tried writing a story using only 50 words per chapter and it broke my brain

Honestly I thought it would be a fun challenge to force myself to be super concise. After 3 chapters I realized I was cutting out all the description and dialogue just to hit the word limit. The whole story felt like a list of events with zero emotion. Has anyone else tried a weird constraint that actually helped their writing in the end?

Did you try reading it out loud after? When I had to write a story using only one syllable words as a joke it came out sounding like a drunk caveman. But after a few tries I started finding ways to make the rhythm work and it actually made my regular writing tighter. The 50 word thing sounds like it forces you to cut everything that isn't absolutely necessary. Maybe try keeping some chapters at 50 and letting others go longer, see if you can get a feel for what really needs to stay.
