Am I the only one who just found out about password manager auto-fill risks?

I was setting up a new account on a sketchy-looking forum last week and my password manager tried to auto-fill my main email login there. It freaked me out because the site could have been a fake page trying to steal my info. Has anyone else turned off auto-fill for this reason, or is there a safer way to use it?

Turned mine off after the same thing happened on a dodgy shopping site. Honestly it just felt too risky letting it fill anything automatically. Now I copy and paste from the manager instead.

Copy and paste still sends your password to the site, so it doesn't fix the main risk.
