Am I the only one who thinks password managers are overkill for most people?
My brother in Fort Worth keeps telling me to get one, but after he locked himself out of his vault twice last month I'm not sold. A guy at my office said his 14 character password made from a phrase he likes is easier to remember and just as safe. Does anyone actually think these tools are worth the hassle for someone who just checks email and pays bills?
Think about what happens when one site gets hacked. Your email and password combo ends up on a list, and crooks try that same combo on your bank, your Amazon, your email. A 14 character phrase does nothing if you use it in more than one place, and most people do. A manager gives every single site its own random password, so one breach stays one breach. Your brother locking himself out twice is annoying, sure, but that beats losing your checking account.
