Fake SMS phishing texts got me twice before I checked the actual URL

Got a text at 11pm claiming my package was stuck at a USPS depot in Phoenix, and I clicked the link twice before realizing the real sender number was a 10-digit cell, not a 5-digit short code, has anyone else gotten fooled by these?}

Quit blaming the scammers and take some responsibility here. The texts worked because you ignored every red flag staring you in the face, not because the scammers are geniuses. A 10-digit number sending you a package alert at 11pm, that alone should have made you delete it without a second thought. Plus, the whole “click the link” thing is the oldest trick in the book, if you’ve seen it once you’ve seen it a thousand times. You said it yourself, you checked the URL after the second click, that means you had time to think and still chose to keep going. Honestly, these phishing attempts are only getting better because people keep falling for the same basic stuff and then acting shocked about it. Next time, just open your tracking app directly or call the carrier, skip the link entirely and you’ll never have this problem again.
