Got hit with ransomware on my shop computer last Friday.
Lost 3 days of invoices and job schedules. Now I'm running offline backups once a week to a drive I keep in my truck.

Ransomware is nasty stuff, especially when it hits during a busy week. Losing those invoices and schedules is a real punch to the gut. That backup drive in your truck is a smart move, but I would add a second one you keep at home or with a family member. Rotate them every week so you always have a copy offsite. Also, test your restore process every month to make sure the backups actually work when you need them.

Good point, but how are you encrypting the backup drives themselves before they leave the building? If someone grabs that truck drive, they've got all your data sitting there unencrypted.
