I just hit 1,000 blocked login attempts on my home server this month.
Checked the logs and it was all from one botnet trying the same five default passwords. The number was so high it made me finally set up fail2ban and switch to SSH keys. How do you guys handle this kind of constant noise?

Ever think about putting that server behind a VPN first? I mean, fail2ban is good but it's still reacting to the noise.

Yeah, a blog said that's the real quiet move.

What if the blog itself is just wrong?
