I keep seeing coworkers reuse the same password for 10+ accounts

Last week I watched a guy in our IT department type his work email password into a random survey site during lunch. I asked him about it and he said he uses the same 8 character password for everything since 2018. He even showed me his password list on a sticky note under his keyboard. I tried telling him about how one breach can leak all his accounts but he just shrugged it off. How do you get someone like that to actually care about their password habits?

he just shrugged it off" ugh that's the worst. I had a friend who used the same password for her bank and her Taco Bell rewards account until someone logged into her bank and ordered like $200 worth of crunchwraps on her card. She changed everything that week lol.

Actually I think the Taco Bell thing is a little different than how you told it. If someone had her bank password they'd need more than just the rewards account to log in. Usually those fast food accounts don't store your full payment info anyway, just points and order history. But yeah reusing passwords is a disaster waiting to happen. I've got a friend who literally uses the same password for everything including his work email and his gaming accounts. Still hasn't learned even after I showed him that site that tells you if your email got leaked in a data breach. Some people just refuse to change until they actually lose real money I guess.

Actually the Taco Bell rewards account would probably just get their login info if the password was reused, not the bank account directly. That sounds like the bank login was the same password that got compromised somewhere else first. Either way it's a rough lesson to learn, but at least she finally changed everything.
